Rock-A-Rolla review of dLTD 027

“There’s something in the staccato druims and guitars that kick off Cut City‘s latest 12″ that signifies something massively teenage. Not in a bad way – even if it’s sometimes a little overwrought, they shoot for similar heights that M83 might channel, only they encase it in a relentless sort of pop/rock, heavy on the drums, guitar, everything really. Narcissus Can Wait splits time between a couple of ambient tracks and pop songs and it’s refreshingly unabashed, ending most sucessfully on the slow burner Xo Echo, fading out a record full of youthful romanticism on a particulary sunset-y note”
